Alpha Concealment Announces Postal Price Change
What The 2016 USPS Rate Means for Alpha Customers
Jan. 16, 2016 (Pittsburgh) -- The Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) recently gave the green light for the U.S. Postal Service® to proceed with their proposed price and service changes for next year. This means that on Jan. 17, 2016, ecommerce businesses will see an increase in USPS® shipping rates and changes to some service offerings.
UPS and FedEx have also already raised rates for 2016, so, online retailers will be impacted regardless of the shipping carrier they use.
Despite the fact that some USPS shipping rate changes may at first glance seem drastic, in most cases the USPS is still the best value for ecommerce businesses shipping lighter-weight packages.
The January 2016 rate changes represent the first price increase for commercial USPS Priority Mail in over three years. So, although the average price increase for Priority Mail looks high at 9.8 percent for 2016, that averages out to less than 3.3 percent per year since the last rate increase. And with delivery in just two to three days, the USPS offers rates that are still very competitive compared to Ground services from private carriers — which can take up to 5 days for cross-country delivery.

So, what does this mean for customers of Alpha Concealment Systems?
We currently offer flat rate shipping on all of our products that are shipped within the United States, regardless of the size of your order. We will continue to offer the same flat rate shipping, but due to the USPS rate changes, we will be forced to increase the price. As of Jan. 16, our flat-rate shipping fee will increase from $6, to $7 per order.
This USPS rate change means that our shipping prices will increase between $.40 and $.85 per package. We have chosen to raise our shipping price by $1, to ensure that mailing labels and printing costs on our end are still covered, as they were when the shipping cost was $6.
The raise in shipping cost to our customers represents the smallest increase possible on our part, as we are committed to providing quality products at an affordable price. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
